When Lady Charlotte Montford learns that her father, Sir Gilbert Montford, has been unjustly imprisoned in the small Principality of Castamont, she does the only reasonable thing: She disguises herself as a knight so she can win the annual tournament and use the winner’s boon to call on the Prince and demand the release of her father!

But she soon finds herself entwined in a web of intrigues and past secrets surrounding a plot to annex the small city state to its powerful neighbour, the Kingdom of Lyonesse. And then Charlotte meets and instantly falls in love with the brilliant and elegant Crown Princess Iris, and that’s when things get really complicated…
